Gerardo - From Pre-School to Post-School

Dear Friends,

What follows are two Facebook posts— the first by the SOI El Salvador team, and the second by SOI HQ (thank you, Emily Sweet, SOI Marketing Coordinator). The posts honor new graduate, Gerardo, a LEAD beneficiary and speak for themselves.

"At Sports Outreach we are very happy and proud of you!!!
This day our very beloved beneficiary Gerardo E. Jirón Morán graduated from high school with an "Academic Excellence" achievement at Colegio Citala. He has been part of SOI El Salvador since he was a very little boy. At a young age when in preschool, he took English classes with Director, Humberto Alférez Marenco ("The Teacher," as affectionately known in Nuevo Cuscatlán). Later, Gerardo became a beneficiary of the EmpowerMe program, and to date he is part of the “Learning and Equipping through Academics and Discipleship" (LEAD) program where he is now learning to play chess. We give all the glory to our Lord Jesus Christ!"

"It is testimonies like Gerardo's that make what we do at Sports Outreach all worth it! Because of the amazing support, encouragement, and teaching from our International Director, Humberto Alférez Marenco and team at SOI El Salvador, Gerardo E. Jirón Morán graduated from high school with an "Academic Excellence" achievement at Colegio Citala. This is a REAL example of the impact that our LEAD program has on lives like Gerardo! Our LEAD education program is unique, long-term, and integrated with our other programs to maximize success. LEAD stands for “Learning and Equipping through Academics and Discipleship.”

The result? Low failure rates. Strong performance. Family involvement. Future leaders receiving one of the most important resources for breaking the poverty cycle. Felicidades Gerardo!! Estamos muy orgullosas de ti!!! "
