Kendall - the Impact/Opportunities of Short-Term Mission Trips
I am a Missionary Coach in Lynchburg with Sports Outreach. I have had the privilege of also being a trip leader on international trips. My visits overseas have taught me so many lessons. Much of what we put to practice here in the US has come from our training and learning from our teams on the ground in places like Uganda, Kenya, El Salvador and Mexico.
My most recent trip was to Uganda in the spring of 2019 with Hope College. The team was great and they had lots of opportunities to serve alongside our coaches there and to give witness to the work of God in their lives. About halfway through the trip we went to a community called Lagutu where we put on a huge sports clinic. As the kids rotated around in the various stations we also had the opportunity to share with them before they moved on to the next spot.
After sharing I had the opportunity to pray with a girl who wanted to make a commitment to give her life to Christ. It was an incredible moment that I will never forget. After praying with her, the Ugandan Coaches there made sure to connect with her so they could continue to disciple her. I remember thinking “I may never see this girl again”, but then my next thought was how cool it would be to see her in Heaven one day.
It is a joy to serve with Sports Outreach and to see the Kingdom growing.
