A Boy Named Rohit
As many of you know, our still developing ministry site in Southern India is meant to be a place for needy and orphaned children. It’s been months in the making with preparations underway to ready the property to accept children, provide housing, give them an education, and a place to call home. It hasn’t always been easy - there have been countless obstacles along the way, but Barnabas has been faithful to follow the Lord’s call to reopen this once closed school, and create a space to share the Gospel and be the hands and feet of Christ.
Below is a story of a young boy named Rohit as told by Barnabas.
“I am happy to inform you that we have accepted a destitute family of three who joined us on August 1st, 2022. The grandmother is a widow and under 50 years old. She lost her husband when her daughter was 2. The mother was abandoned by her husband when he left her for another woman about 4 months ago. The boy is 5 years old.
He is our first student this year and today we started class for him. They arrived with two shopping bags filled with their possessions, mostly clothes, and barefoot. We have given them a place to stay, food to eat, and a job where they will earn and save. All three of them were provided with new shoes yesterday.
We gave Rohit a day to settle in and started class for him this afternoon. He is not yet comfortable to leave his mother's side, so his grandmother and mother sat with him. We hope he will settle in quickly over the next couple of weeks.
We did a little shopping for his uniform, shoes, and stationery. He will hopefully get his school uniform next week.”
“Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes or daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,“ but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?”
James 2:15-16
Thank you for your support, prayers and encouragement as Barnabas and the team in Southern India continue to refresh and rebuild this school to open the door of hope and transformation for more children like Rohit.
