A Community Garden... A Discipleship Opportunity.

There are so many creative ways that our Domestic Coaches have found to connect with kids and partner with local churches to reach and disciple young people for the Gospel!

Sports Outreach Coach Kendall and her husband Dominic started a community garden two years ago just outside of Forest, Virginia. They thought it would be a good way to connect with kids where they live. The garden brings people together, and the fruits of the labor have been literally hundreds of pounds of food given to needy people in their church and a local food bank!

Brookhill Wesleyan Church, where Kendall and Dominic serve in children’s ministry is a long-time Sports Outreach partner.  Brookhill’s youth group came out last  week to “work the garden.”  They pulled weeds, tilled, planted, and moved mulch to help keep the garden producing well during the July heat. The Brookhill Youth are called “Rooted Youth” and their leaders used their time in the garden as a major discipleship opportunity. All of the hard work and sweat was a great experience to to show the young people how they can serve Christ, remain rooted in Him and serve their community in many different ways.
