Mukoda - Desperate circumstances, but she has a chance.
Mukoda is 6 years old and lives in the community of Lagutu in Northern Uganda. She is the last born of her mother who has 3 children. Mukoda’s mother is HIV positive and she fell sick and suffered from a stroke which affected her speech and ability to do work normally as well.
“When my mum fell sick my dad divorced her and left us at the mercy of neighbors who could give us food when they can and we work on peoples’ farms to be able to earn a little money for food but most times it’s my sister who takes care of us.”
She got to know about sports outreach in 2018 when she joined the Life Point Day Care school, supported by SOI partner Lifepoint Church in Wilmington, NC.
“Going to school has been so hard because of my mum’s condition since she cannot afford paying my tuition at school and I thank God because of Life Point day care because I have been able to go to school and I know I will have a bright future.”
Mukoda, just like any child, has dreams and goals in life and she says she wants to be a nurse so that she can support and take care of her mother.
