Fulfillment for Faby at Sports Outreach
Life has not been easy for Faby, a 16-year-old girl whose father died when her mother was just five months pregnant with her. Never having known her father, life was very difficult, but the wonderful thing is, is that it brought the family to Jesus! While Faby was attending school, her mother developed a lingering mental illness, and because of that, they lost almost everything they owned. Thank God she was healed and now Faby and her mother are still trying to recover from that hard time. Faby’s mother has now married a Salvadoran man who lives in the States and is supporting them from there. Her mother is working as an insurance agent because it provides a bit of income in the meantime.
Faby came to Sports Outreach El Salvador just this year in order to complete her high school mandatory social work requirement, since she is a senior at the National Institute of Nuevo Cuscatlán (INUC). Faby was familiar with the Sports Outreach English as a Foreign Language program that we have at her high school, and before finishing her volunteer social work with us she asked me [Humberto Alférez, SOI El Salvador Director] if she could start studying English with us since she had only a beginner’s knowledge. I gave her a test and found she qualified for a course that was already running. Faby is dedicated to her studies and is one of the best students in the class now. She is growing in Jesus through our programs, though she already knew the Lord when she came to us.
After her social work program ended, she wanted to volunteer and started serving on Mirna’s discipleship team every Saturday. She is also attending the monthly prayer and worship vigils we have in our Ministry Center. We are excited to see how God uses Faby and her gifts in the coming years.
