James - Consistent Kindness Changes People

In Charlotte, NC, we have a partnership with Thompson Child and Family Focus. Our during non-Covid times, our coaches go there multiple times a week to do sports sessions with 10-12 kids each time. Coach Rich shares the following story:

“The time we spend at Thompson Child and Family Focus is so special. These children all have had incredibly challenging lives. Products of physical and emotional abuse, they learn two skills very well: to fight or run. One boy in particular, James (name changed) found our sports activities difficult as he was usually involved in some sort of altercation. Over time James saw that we were showing up consistently, not abusing him and most importantly shining the light of Christ through our actions and words. James became less and less volatile and towards the end of our time together (as he was adopted) he was actually leading the group in prayer. God is good. He asks us to love one another and it is amazing what He can do if that is what we do.”
