In the early 1980s SOI founder, Russ Carr, discovered that playing soccer matches in impoverished areas was a great way to both gather people and to share the Good News of Jesus.

You need to find something to eat. You skip school two or three times a week and spend much of the day foraging around trash piles in the slums—or trying to steal from food vendors—and many nights you go to bed hungry. This is what life is like for tens of thousands of children in Nairobi, Kenya’s expansive slums. And Sports Outreach is doing what we can to help!
